Puff pastry corners – my idea for delicious finger food from the camping oven.

Frank, the eternally hungry one, was hungry for “a little something”. Well, if Frank is hungry, then the definition of “trifle” is a matter of interpretation. This “trifle” can quickly turn into a medium-sized famine. And a little something had to be done really quickly.

And that’s how the quick puff pastry corners came about. I also had all the ingredients. I always think puff pastry is a great and crunchy side dish. You can also simply spread a thin layer of herb butter on the puff pastry and bake it. A super finger food.

The recipe also works really well in the Rocktrail camping oven.

I recommend the silicone mold for the preparation. Both the Omnia baking tins (uncoated* or coated*) and the Rocktrail baking tin are simply far too hot. The puff pastry could get quite “crispy” and more “roasted” flavors. You can easily avoid this with the silicone mold.

1 roll of puff pastry from the chiller cabinet
180g-200g sheep’s cheese/feta
8-12 cocktail tomatoes
2-3 sprigs of fresh rosemary


Roll out the puff pastry. Wash the cocktail tomatoes. Crumble the feta cheese in a small bowl. Rinse the rosemary sprigs with water and spin dry.

Place the silicone mold in the camping oven.

Divide the puff pastry into 8 to 12 pieces – depending on how small or large you want the finger food to be. Whether you are making 8 or 12 puff pastry corners, they must be baked in two batches in the camp oven, as only 6 small or 4 larger puff pastry corners will fit in the baking tin. Please note that you divide the “larger” puff pastry corners into rectangles, whereby you then have 2 longer and 2 shorter sides so that the puff pastry corners also fit into the baking tin/silicone mold in terms of length and width.

Now stick the corners of the puff pastry rectangles together so that the sides tilt upwards to form a “basket”. Cover this basket with feta cheese and place in the baking dish/silicone mold.

Season with pepper.

Die Cocktailtomaten halbieren. Place 2 halves on each basket.

Snip off small sprigs of rosemary from the rosemary sprigs and place on top of the sheep’s cheese in the baskets.

Place the camping oven on the gas hob and bake for 20-25 minutes over a low heat. The puff pastry corners are ready when the puff pastry has browned a little and no longer looks slippery or raw.

Keep the remaining puff pastry corners in the fridge until you are ready to bake them.

This finger food also tastes great cold and is therefore a nice souvenir to take to your camping neighbor.
