Cauliflower bomb

Cauliflower bomb - an unusual recipe that will delight you!

The cauliflower bomb. Who doesn’t know them? If I’m honest…ME! I’ve only ever read about it. How delicious the cauliflower bomb should be and what a great combination. But I’ve never tried them before.

It was actually the bacon in the cauliflower bomb that put me off the whole thing. I just found the whole mixture kind of greasy, plus bacon is too salty for me. But that’s not at all the case with the cauliflower bomb from the Omnia oven!

This recipe was also my first time trying low carb. A friend of mine gave me the idea and actively supported me. Even if I think, at least at the moment, that low carb is not for us, as we like to eat bread, I will continue to look into this topic. I’m still at the beginning…

Nevertheless, for all those who are not low-carb fans: The only difference to a “normal” recipe is that the minced meat from the cauliflower bomb does not contain any stale bread rolls or breadcrumbs.

My test eaters were super skeptical again this time! Frank enjoyed it wonderfully, while our little hatchling didn’t like it so much. However, this was more due to the cauliflower than anything else. She prefers the “green faction” – Broccoli….

Blumenkohlbombe aus dem Omnia Backofen | Campingbackofen rezepte

Ingredients:

Cauliflower bomb:

1 cauliflower (approx. 800 g)
400g mixed minced meat
100g bacon
1 kl. Onion
1 Egg
1 tsp mustard
Salt
Pepper

Sauce:

100ml milk
100ml cauliflower water
1 tsp broth
100g cream cheese
Pepper, white
Salt

Preparation:

Cauliflower bomb:

Clean the cauliflower, cut into florets and cook in salted water for approx. 10 minutes until al dente.

Cut the onions into small cubes and mix with the minced meat, egg, mustard, salt and pepper.

Drain the cauliflower (save the cauliflower water for a sauce if necessary). Fill the cooked cauliflower florets into the Omnia dish. Caution: HOT! Pour the mince over the top and press down lightly.

Cut the bacon in half and place the slices over the ingredients so that the ends hang slightly over the dish. When all the bacon slices have been distributed, press the ends into the mold using a spoon handle or a silicone spoon.

Bake for 30 minutes over a medium heat.

Tip:

I do NOT recommend using a silicone mold, as without a silicone mold more of the liquid from the minced meat can burn. More liquid remains when using the silicone mold.

Alternatively, a camping oven with a non-stick baking dish* is highly recommended.

Sauce:

Mix all the ingredients together and boil down briefly.

As we are not yet low-carb eaters, we served it with boiled potatoes!

Note on camping ovens from ENDERS or PETROMAX:

Please note that these camping ovens do not have a silicone mold. Here you have to fill the dough directly into the non-stick coated mold.

With the Petromax, it may slightly increase the cooking/baking time as the Petromax is made of stainless steel and therefore requires a slightly longer cooking/baking time.

In both the Enders camping oven and the Petromax camping oven, you should always bake cakes on a very low flame to ensure that your baking results are successful.
